CHARLOTTE, NC 鈥 PlateJoy Health is a technology company focused on using healthy eating and lifestyle change to improve health outcomes. Since launching in 2013, PlateJoy has provided programs for consumers, employers, health insurers, and the Department of Defense. It has empowered people with personalized nutrition and educational tools to help them cook over five million meals at home and prevent chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

PlateJoy鈥檚 flagship nutrition platform uses over 50 data points about each individual鈥檚 lifestyle and preferences to personalize a weekly menu to fit their health and nutrition goals. Recipes and shopping lists are optimized to reduce food waste, use up what鈥檚 already in the fridge, and easily integrate with grocery delivery services for same-day ingredient delivery nationwide. In 2017, PlateJoy launched a CDC-recognized Diabetes Prevention Program to help combat the impact of obesity-related illnesses, which has eclipsed $1.7 trillion and makes up nearly 10% of GDP. The program takes users on a journey to better understand how sleep, stress, nutrition, activity, and support can heal many chronic diseases caused by lifestyle choices. One-to-one dietician coaching and educational videos feature interviews with experts from a diverse set of backgrounds that users trust and want to hear from. To date, PlateJoy has since helped over 20,000 people with prediabetes reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 60%.
