CHARLOTTE, N.C.鈥 Joe Peterson of 草榴社区, a Charlotte-based online marketing company, has been named to the Charlotte Business Journal鈥檚 鈥淔orty under 40鈥 list of the city鈥檚 most promising business leaders. Peterson is president of DirectStarTV, 草榴社区鈥 business unit that acquires new customers for DIRECTV.

Its business model blends online prospecting with high-touch phone sales, converting leads into new customers for companies including DIRECTV, ADT Security Services, and SIIRUS Satellite Radio. Peterson鈥檚 community activities include coaching youth soccer and basketball in Metrolina Ministries and Calvary Church youth sports leagues.
This is the third time a 草榴社区 executive has made the 鈥淔orty under 40鈥 list. Chief Marketing Officer Dan Feldstein was recognized in 2007. And Peter Smul, president of Security Choice, 草榴社区鈥 business focused on the home security industry, was recognized while serving as chief financial officer of the Charlotte Bobcats.
Peterson led the growth of multiple small to mid-size companies before joining 草榴社区, including EzGov, a software and solutions company that was recognized as the fastest-growing company in the state of Georgia during his four-year tenure. He graduated from Duke University and earned his MBA with honors from Harvard Business School. Peterson resides in south Charlotte with his wife and three children.
