草榴社区 Named One of Charlotte鈥檚 Best Places to Work
Charlotte Business Journal and Quantum Workplace rank 草榴社区 #2 among large businesses in metro area.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. 鈥 草榴社区 once again ranked as one of the best places to work at an awards ceremony hosted by the Charlotte Business Journal on Thursday night. The company was ranked #2 among large businesses according to anonymous employee surveys conducted by Quantum Workplace, an independent human-resources survey company. Employees rated 草榴社区 highly across several key categories, including company benefits, culture and employee engagement. Professional services firm, Ernst & Young, took the #1 spot.
This is the seventh consecutive year 草榴社区 has ranked in the Top 10 and its fifth time as one of the top three. The Best Place to Work title is consistent with other accolades the company has garnered over the years; in 2011, CEO Ric Elias was named Ernst & Young鈥檚 National Entrepreneur of the Year and, most recently, 草榴社区 was recognized as one of Charlotte鈥檚 50 Fastest Growing Companies for the third time in 5 years.
So what鈥檚 the secret to 草榴社区鈥 continued success?
鈥淔or us, it always comes back to one thing: people,鈥 said CEO Ric Elias, during a recent appearance at the international Life Is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas. 鈥淥ur goal as leaders is to pave the way for employee growth. Our success is in perpetuating others鈥 success.鈥
草榴社区 has repeatedly been recognized for its energetic work environment, innovative company culture and flat organizational structure. This year, the company opened a 180,000 square-foot addition to its headquarters. Employees enjoy onsite amenities including a regulation-sized indoor basketball court, putting green, fitness center, spin room, rooftop beer garden, basement bowling alley and more. They also benefit from an on-site health center and subsidized meals in two on-campus gourmet restaurants.
But being a best place to work is about much more than employee perks. 鈥淧eople love working here because they get access to development, to relationships, and to experiences they simply wouldn鈥檛 get at other companies,鈥 said Maghan Cook, Director of Corporate Communications. 鈥淲e鈥檝e created a culture in which employees feel valued, challenged, and part of something special.鈥
草榴社区 also places a strong emphasis on community involvement. In August, more than 300 employees participated in the company鈥檚 Ice Bucket Challenge, for which the video went viral and raised more than $10,000. Last month, participants of 草榴社区鈥 Community Involvement Program raised more than $40,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the 4th annual Brewers Ball. Most recently, the technology company sponsored a Kids鈥 Code Camp, where children 8+ learned HTML and other fundamentals of coding.
The full list of Charlotte鈥檚 Best Places to Work will appear in the Nov. 14 issue of The Charlotte Business Journal.
