Amid School Budget Cuts, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Program Aims to Help Fill Funding Gap
Participating schools receive $100 for each DIRECTV subscription and $200 for each ADT home security subscription to help fund educational programs
CHARLOTTE, NC — As local schools face budget cuts this year, parents and administrators are wondering how to fund important projects ranging from classroom renovations to library books to field trips. ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, a local online marketing company, has come up with a way to help fill the funding gap.
Senior Vice President Rodney Sims, father of three young students, came up with the idea after watching his children’s schools struggle to raise funds in a difficult economy.
Why not give the community a way to help schools while subscribing to basic, essential home services like satellite TV and home security? said Sims. Even in tough economic times, our children shouldn’t be shortchanged educational opportunities.
²ÝÁñÉçÇø markets and sells brands like DIRECTV and ADT home security. The new program, Our School Partners, provides a simple, ongoing source of funding for schools throughout the community. Each time a family signs up for a service using a unique code assigned to their neighborhood school, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø gives cash back to the schools. For each DIRECTV subscription, the participating school receives $100, and for each ADT subscription, $200.
Families are signing up for these services regardless of whether schools participate, said Lindsey Glavin, executive director of Our School Partners. Simply by making students and parents aware about the program through letters, fliers and website notices, schools can raise thousands of dollars per year.
A website customized for each school provides administrators with real-time reporting of the total funds raised to date. Schools also receive customizable letters, fliers, web banners and other promotional materials. There is no cost to participate in the program, which is open to private and public institutions throughout the U.S.
It’s much more than a typical short-term school fundraiser, said Glavin. Our School Partners provides an ongoing revenue stream for schools in need of funding for important educational initiatives. What makes this program especially compelling is that it doesn’t create extra work for school administrators or require students to collect money, carry forms or deliver products.
